I have been a Massachusetts licensed psychologist since 1989, and I had five years of prior supervised experience. (Feel free to verify my psychology license with the licensing board.) I earned a doctoral degree (Ph.D.) in clinical psychology from Boston University, as well as a Master's degree (M.A.) in psychology from New York University. I am a member of the American Psychological Association, Employee Assistance Professionals Association, and Needham Volunteer Medical Corps.
As a psychologist, I am trained in assessment and psychotherapy--understanding and helping people. (See FAQs to learn more about my approach to psychotherapy.) When appropriate, I can make a referral to another professional for a medication evaluation.
My offices are located in Boston (Back Bay/Copley Square) and Needham, Massachusetts. I have worked in many settings, including employee assistance programs, outpatient clinics, inpatient units, and emergency services. I have taught psychology courses at Tufts University, UMass/Boston, Boston College, Suffolk University, and other institutions. I currently write for TopHealth newsletter, distributed nationally to over a million readers. My articles on depression, exercise, humor, and other topics have appeared in New England Psychologist, Teaching of Psychology, Psychological Reports, Insights (magazine of the New England Human Resources Association), Needham Times, and other publications; I have been interviewed by Boston Magazine, WebMD, MSNBC, Self, Weight Watchers, the American Coaching Academy, Fitness Magazine, Pilates Style, Arthritis Today, and others. I have also designed worksite health promotion programs, provided crisis intervention and management consultation to numerous businesses, and delivered presentations to the Greater Boston Chamber of Commerce, United Way of Massachusetts Bay, Massachusetts Dept. of Mental Health, and other organizations. See Events Schedule for recent/upcoming presentations.
